Hopefully there's some very big rockets going up some very tight sphincters.Spirit of 26noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6408965100294016330.post-52168209240193103812011-09-18T14:14:48.229+10:002011-09-18T14:14:48.229+10:00What can I say? It's a professional game in this day and age so good luck to the kid for getting the best possible price. This has brought back memories of Woewodin. Slightly different career situations but similar money and dare I say similar player physical problems. When Woey left (was pushed from?) Melbourne his salary was through the roof due to a Brownlow win and his hamstrings were shot. When Scull left Melbourne his potential earnings were through the roof and yet he hadn't played a full season due to knee/hip/whatever injury. Caveat emptor. Do Mr Judd or Mr Ablett have any serious aches and pains? Noooooh! And we received draft picks as compensation from big brother AFL. Yay!

Now the coaching position: well I was horrified to hear that the club was seriously pursuing Ross Lyon. To my mind the guy was a complete failure as a coach. A great line up never to have won a flag and he was in charge. I was always amazed to see his handling of Reiwoldt. Nicky seemed to be running the coach and trying to do those captain things particularly when the chips were down. As soon as you saw this happening you knew the Saints were down the tubes. So not have a man who is 'comfortable with my integrity and my honour' despite, in football parlance, having played the game very hard and just within the rules, well I'm happy not shake his hand at the end of the game. There's little respect there. Perhaps it was all a big smoke screen to throw the hounds off the scent. And this Neeld guy seems very serious (yeah no smiles). A real competitor. Somebody who has something to prove. The whole thing has been a bit under the radar thanks in part to Ross Lyon which might be a very good thing. No spotlights, no analysis, just go and get on with the job.

Is this really the end of season 2011 for the MFC? Let's hope so apart from the clean up of the coaching panel.Lyall St Kildanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6408965100294016330.post-78495122321923045982011-09-17T15:36:48.206+10:002011-09-17T15:36:48.206+10:00Couldn't agree more. Games are won and lost in the midfield and we've got probably the best midfield coach going around... dare we dream?Jonnonoreply@blogger.com
