Demonblog is the only thing that has kept me sane this year and in answer to Jmac's riddle - Demonblog is worth barracking for.

But after the weekend I'm a little more broken than usual. I've been "manning-up", going to the games, taking the pain but I feel like I'm now (as Homer Simpson put it) "girling-down". I need someone to tell me its all just a bad dream and everything will be all right no matter how fictitious. I guess I'll just go and watch Glen Bartlett's speech again. Maybe that will help.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6408965100294016330.post-91052250458247273082013-08-19T22:17:58.766+10:002013-08-19T22:17:58.766+10:00Could we not entice Joel Mac out of retirement for...Could we not entice Joel Mac out of retirement for the last two games as I'm 99% sure that he's the answer. If the club was called "North" melbourne instead of Melbourne, you'd be fighting off the Relocation mongers as well!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6408965100294016330.post-30506787166275935672013-08-19T00:21:46.201+10:002013-08-19T00:21:46.201+10:00Decided a few weeks ago that I don't need to w...Decided a few weeks ago that I don't need to watch any more games; I'll just head over to Demonblog on Sunday evening for some actual (though teeth-clenchingly brutal) enjoyment. So, thanks!

I lost the stomach for experiencing the beltings in person after R11. The last game I went to was the near-death experience of the Footscray game -- I arrived at the beginning of Q4 in time to see Dahlhaus snap the first in a run of umpteen goals. Happy to "finish" this season on a win, albeit with more of a feeling of staved-off heart attack than joyous celebration. That said, if I'd known about the jumpers...

Anyway, one thing about the club getting down with the real-talk and not spinning elite training fairytales: hearing Jackson and the new Prez talk about the club is kind of like listening to administrators grimly discuss a company being put into liquidation. It's starting to feel like they're preparing us for the worst, just like the AFL is coaching the public into accepting/expecting Essendon's now inevitable loss of points. Am I crazy for thinking this? That they're lowering our expectations to the point where, when it's explained to us in November that they're shutting the whole thing down, we're half relieved?

Riddle me this: is there really anything left to barrack for at Melbourne? I ask this as a member, as someone who has stuck by through the worst (and then the actual worst, and then the no-this-time-it's-for-really-real worst). I know I'm a horrible person for asking this, but barracking for this club is making me feel dead inside.

Is it still called "jumping ship" if the vessel has already sunk?jmachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14451448669727834901noreply@blogger.com
